SWINDON’S three most famous sporting names have snapped up the very first set on the new Monopoly Swindon board – landing the elusive pinks.

Swindon Town FC, Swindon Wildcats and Swindon Robins Speedway will appear on the pink properties which lie near the board’s jail and are often a sought-after collection due to their low prices – between £140 and £160.

Swindon Town Chairman Jed McCrory spoke of his pride at the club being named on the board.

“I think it’s absolutely brilliant,” he said.

“It’s great that all the sports teams are going to be represented together. I would warn players though to check whether there are agents fees when buying the club and if there are to pass on it.”

Alun Rossiter, team manager at Robins Speedway, said: “I think it’s fantastic news. It gives us a bit of recognition for winning the league for the first time in 45 years.”

A Wildcats spokesman added: “We are really pleased to be included in Swindon’s Monopoly board. The Wildcats have had a strong presence in the community since the team was founded in 1986.”

The set is one of nine different Swindon themed collections on the customised board – which hits the shops on October 11.

Dan Taylor, head of custom games at Winning Moves UK said: “More than 2,000 landmarks, streets or roads could potentially have appeared on the board. Realistically around 220 were in the running so many congratulations to the owners of this set.”
