Burglar changes plea to guilty before trial
6:00pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
A MAN who was due to face trial accused of burgling a house in Royal Wootton Bassett changed his plea before a jury could be sworn in.
Frederick Newdick admitted carrying out the raid at the house, in Station Road, on April 15 where jewellery, cash and aftershave were taken.
The 31-year-old was on bail at the time of the offence, having appeared before a judge a few days earlier charged with two thefts on March 3.
Newdick, of Church Walk, Moredon, has now pleaded guilty to one charge of burglary and two counts of theft.
Recorder Michael Bowes QC, sitting at Swindon crown court, adjourned the case to October 18 to give the probation service time to compile a pre-sentence report and remanded him in custody until then.
