Be pampered and join in fight to beat breast cancer at Swindon event
PEOPLE across the town are being invited to help in the fight against breast cancer as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
A Ladies Pink Pamper Night will take place at the Marriott Hotel on Thursday from 7.15pm, aimed at raising funds for the Wiltshire Breakthrough Breast Cancer Group.
The event will include gifts, arts, crafts, beauty therapies and treatments, and funds raised will go towards developing treatments, raising awareness and preventing all types of breast cancer.
Lynn Parfrey, Wiltshire Breakthrough Breast Cancer lead, said: “October is when we really try to raise awareness of breast cancer – it is by far our busiest month.
“We want everyone to be aware of breast cancer and not to be afraid of it. It is not just women who get it.
“We are hoping hundreds of people will support us at our Pink Pamper Night.”
Wiltshire Breakthrough Breast Cancer Group was founded by dedicated fundraiser Shirley Garman.
Shirley, of Gorse Hill, survived breast cancer twice, only to be told subsequently she had just days to live after doctors discovered the cancer had spread to her brain in 2009.
She helped raise nearly £700,000 before she died, missing her ambitious £1m target.
But it was her dying wish that the group live on under the leadership of her friends Paul and Lynn Parfrey, whom she had convinced to join the committee just three months previously.
The group’s total currently stands at more than £845,000.
The Ladies Pink Pamper Night next week will include stalls from NiMee Jewellery Parties, Thorntons Chocolates, Partylite Candles, Louise Moore handmade jewellery, Pampered Chef and Beauty Bits Cosmetics.
There will also be threading, tarot card reading and massages, as well as dozens of other treatments.
There will also be a free drink on arrival.
For tickets, which are £5 in advance or £7 on the door, email email@example.com or call Lynn on 07530 948350.
