Man charged following suspected kidnap and robbery

A MAN was kidnapped from a Chiseldon petrol station and driven against his will to Marlborough before being beaten, robbed and dumped at a remote farm.
The incident took place on Wednesday, October 2 shortly after 1.10pm when a 33-year-old man was driven against his will from outside the Esso garage and petrol station on Draycott Road, Chiseldon, towards the Marlborough direction.
He was then robbed and beaten up before being taken from the vehicle and left outside a farm in Ogbourne St George, Marlborough, where a member of the public found him and contacted the police.
As a result of police enquiries, a male was arrested on Thursday, October 3 in connection with the incident and yseterday (Mon) was charged with robbery and kidnap.
Officers are keen to hear from anyone who was in the vicinity of the Esso garage in Chiseldon or the Ogbourne St George area of Marlborough between 1pm and 1.30pm on Wednesday, October 2.
They are keen to hear from anyone around Chiseldon or close to the Memorial Hall to come forward.
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or a silver Ford Fusion vehicle being driven from the direction of Chiseldon to Marlborough, is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Amritpar Chahal, 25, from Porthcawl, has been charged with kidnap and robbery. He appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on October 5 and was remanded in custody. He will appear at Swindon Crown Court on October 25.
