Monopoly party is taking no chances
7:20am Wednesday 9th October 2013 in News
THE new official Monopoly board for Swindon will be launched in style this Friday, as the town’s brass band belts out money, house and hotel-themed songs.
Tunes will include Our House by Madness, and Abba’s Money Money Money.
At the official ceremony at Steam museum, the identities of the 22 Swindon landmarks appearing on the property sites on the board – replacing the likes of Mayfair and Trafalgar Square on the London version – will be revealed.
Monopoly: Swindon Edition will go on shop shelves at exactly the same time as the board is officially launched.
A giant 5ft replica of the board will also be unfurled.
“It promises to be a spectacular launch,” said Dan Taylor, head of custom games at Winning Moves, makers of the game under licence from Hasbro.
“We are extremely excited about it.”
The public is invited along to the launch from 9.30am, when Dan will be giving out signed Monopoly money. The Monopoly banknotes have Swindon Edition printed on them.
Hayley Ferris, from the Swindon Pegasus Brass Band, a charity voted onto the board, will also be present at the ceremony.
