Roadworks will close park entrance for a week
5:10pm Friday 11th October 2013 in News
THE Hay Lane entrance to Lydiard Park will be closed to all vehicles for seven days later this month.
The closure, which starts on October 21, is for resurfacing works on the drive towards Lydiard House and St Mary’s Church.
All visitors to the park should use the main Lydiard Park entrance off Hook Street by either following the brown tourist signs to Lydiard Park or the road closure diversion signs.
Lydiard Park will be open as normal during the works with all vehicles directed to the main entrance off Hook Street for parking and access to the grounds, Lydiard House, walled garden and café. Coun Garry Perkins, cabinet member, said: “This work will repair the pothole damage caused by the cold winter and heavy rainfall, which left the road surface in poor condition.
“We are asking visitors to bear with us while these important improvements are taking place and we hope that directing all motorists to the Hook Street entrance will keep disruption to a minimum.”
Although the work is scheduled to start on October 21, it is subject to weather conditions and may over run. Visitors are advised to check if the entrance has reopened by visiting www.lydiardpark.org.uk.
