Mum to sell promotional space on her bald head
A HIGHWORTH mum is offering her shaved head as advertising space to raise money for the Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust.
Football mad mum-of-three Sally Foster, 42, decided to shave her head for the trust after 14-year-old daughter Baeley was accepted to take part in an international football tournament next year.
Baeley is one of four girls from Highworth who train with the trust Girls Centre For Excellence and who are taking part in the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden next year.
Because the trust funds these youngsters to go to Sweden and take part Sally wanted to do something to give a little back.
Sally said: “The trust gives schools money to help train the girls and because it is so expensive and they have helped so much I wanted to do some fundraising to help with the costs of sending the kids out there.
“Six years ago I did a head shave for Children In Need. I thought I’d do another one for the trust, and that’s where it started.
“Then I had a marvellous idea. There are a lot of local businesses in Highworth and people I have talked to have already been so fabulous, so I tried to think of how I could also help them.
“And that’s when I had the idea that people could advertise on my bald head.
“It’s all about supporting local business and people in the community really and getting it out there about girls’ football too.”
Sally has started approaching local businesses about the idea, and has already had plenty of positive responses.
She said: “Only one business has said a flat-out no so far because they thought it might be inappropriate.
“But otherwise so far businesses have been really positive.”
New hairdressers Karoliina Saunders Hair Design has already offered £50 to the cause if Sally gets her head shaved there, unless the offer is matched or raised by another salon.
“I was really surprised that they offered to do that and unless it is outbid by another business I’ll get it done there, because it’s a bit of publicity for them too.
“I don’t know yet where exactly I will have the headshave done, or whether my head will go under auction but if I can’t find anywhere I will have it done on the High-worth podium.”
Sally has already raised more than £250 for the cause, and is planning to go under the scissors on November 30.
