A spectacular show to mark tenth year
A DANCE school is planning to produce a full-length theatre show to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year.
Danzone, run by Clare Jones, began back in 2013 with a handful of students in one small class. Today the school boasts 150 students in 20 different dance classes.
Clare said: “Dance should be available to all walks of life, and students of all shapes and sizes, regardless of whether they have any previous experience.’’ While the classes are geared to helping the dancers achieve their full potential, Clare believes in emphasising the fun of dance, the benefit of exercise and the confidence that can be gained.
Last year Clare took her dancers to perform at the famous theatre as part of The Star In Our Eyes Mardi Gras 2012.
The school was also invited to send 71 dancers to take part in a big show at the Oxford theatre.
“It was the biggest project I had undertaken,’’ said Clare.
“We spent three months in training and I choreographed four routines. I’m proud of all the hard work they put in.’’ Danzone has students aged from three to 40 learning freestyle dance, street jazz, street fit, ballet, tap, musical theatre and Zumba.
Clare completed her dance training at Swindon Dance and in Bristol and has a team of qualified dance teachers on her staff, including Hayley Worrallo, who trained at the London College of Dance specialising in ballet.
Clare believes her school has grown from strength to strength because of her passion and commitment to encouraging her students to embrace life skills and enjoy their dancing.
She said: “The success of my school comes from the happiness of the dancers.
“There is no moment more special than a parent watching their child performing in a choreographed routine in front of an audience. The value of this experience to the student is priceless.’’ The school is about to embark on its most ambitious project to date – a full theatre production. Plans are at an early stage but surprise special guests will be appearing.
