Jahmene pumps up the volume
4:20pm Thursday 24th October 2013 in News
POP SENSATION Jahmene Douglas will take time out from carving his name into music history to take part in a carving of a different kind next week.
The Swindon soul singer, who narrowly dipped out on a MOBO award on Saturday night, will be at a supermarket carving a pumpkin in preparation for Halloween that will be auctioned off to raise money for Women’s Aid.
The 22-year-old will be at the Budgens supermarket, in Marlborough Street, Faringdon at around 4pm on Tuesday, October 29, where he will meet store staff and cut a locally-produced pumpkin.
The event was set to be today but the X Factor runner up had to pull out due to illness.
All of the money raised by the auction will go to the Women’s Aid Charity and the highest bidder will win the freshly carved pumpkin ready to put on display for the trick and treaters on Thursday, October 31.
Meanwhile, he might put his MOBO heartbreak behind him after being nominated for two Urban Music Awards – best male and best newcomer.
The UMAs, now in their tenth year, aim to recognise the best in R&B, hiphop, soul and dance music across the world and past winners have included Beyonce, Rhianna and Amy Winehouse.
The awards are open to a public vote and anyone who wants to support Jahmene can visit urbanmusicawards.net/united-kingdom/voting.
