THRESHOLD Housing Link is inviting the people of Swindon to take part in its annual sleep-out to support its work with the homeless on Friday.

The sponsored event will be held at Immanuel United Reform Church, Upham Road, from 10pm.

Each month, Threshold’s street outreach team works with about 60 people, assisting them to access crucial health care, obtain benefits and secure emergency accommodation.

The Threshold direct access hostel, in Culvery Court, took in 235 homeless men last year.

The charity was able to rehome 35 per cent of them.

Yet it had to turn away people on 417 occasions due to lack of beds, with men offered just a blanket for the night.
