WILTSHIRE Police have reminded drivers of the dangers of drink-driving after a woman received a two-year ban.
Joely Powell, of Westminster Road in Toothill, was sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court after being caught almost three times over the legal limit.
As well as being disqualified from driving, she also received a £60 fine and was ordered to carry out 150 hours of community service.
Police have said that in the build up to Christmas it is important for people to drive safely.
PC Steven Yates said: “When we first started doing the Christmas campaigns we used to stop roughly one in ten drivers for drink driving.
“That has now dropped to one in every hundred but that is still one too many.
“In this case the driver was returning from a night out and she was reported by a member of the public, which shows that they do not find it acceptable either.
“In the build up to Christmas we want everyone to enjoy themselves but to do it sensibly.
“That one extra drink can easily lead to someone’s Christmas being ruined or even worse, their life.”
