WARNING letters from police have been issued to three families in North Swindon after their children were identified causing antisocial behaviour in the streets.

Incidents included throwing eggs at houses, foul-mouthed abuse and other behaviour which was having a negative impact on people in Abbey Meads.

Beat manager PC Stephanie England and an antisocial behaviour officer from Swindon Council have been to visit the children’s parents, to make them aware of what has happened and give them advice on the potential consequences if their children do not behave in the future.

If the antisocial behaviour continues, the Neighbouthood Police Team would seek to set up an Acceptable Behaviour Contract (ABC), a voluntary contract which agrees conditions such as curfews and rules for behaviour.

If that fails, then the police and Swindon Council would consider applying to the court for an Anti Social Behaviour Order (ASBO) which, if breached, could lead to their arrest. If families rent their properties police may seek to have them evicted.
