TEAM members at the FedEx depot in Swindon collected more than 125 kilograms of food for the local Trussell Trust foodbank as part of the annual FedEx Cares initiative.

Since September, more than 21 FedEx locations have participated in the collection.

The total amount of food donated is now more than enough to fill a FedEx courier van, providing a total of 2,670 meals for those living below the poverty line. All the items collected were then delivered by FedEx to the local foodbank in the area.

The FedEx Cares initiative sees team members across the world give something back to their communities.

As part of this, FedEx supports a number of charitable organisations in the UK and around the world. “I am really proud of our FedEx team members in Swindon,” said Trevor Hoyle, managing director of ground operations UK & Ireland. “They are always keen to lend a hand, especially when it’s for something that is so valuable as the Trussell Trust foodbank.

“We are extremely grateful for the support given by FedEx, especially amid the rising living costs in UK,’’ said Mike Partridge, Corporate Partnerships manager at The Trussell Trust.

“These donations will help to stop people going hungry in their own homes.”
