NEW College celebrated the 10th anniversary of its sports centre on Thursday night.

The occasion was combined with an open evening allowing members of the public to come and see the facilities for themselves.

It allowed them to find out more about the range of academic and vocational sports courses which the college offers.

As well as finding out about the courses they were treated to a host of displays both from current students and some of the college teams.

Among those putting on shows were the New College Basketball Academy, Swindon Fencing Club and a Rhythmic Gymnastics display from Laura Halford.

Graham Taylor, principal of the college, said: “Sport has always been an important part of the curriculum here at New College, not just in terms of offering qualifications but providing students with the opportunity to stay active and pursue their sporting interests.

“Sport at New College goes back way beyond a mere 10 years. It started with the founding of the College back in 1984.”
