STAFF at C&D Group, in College Court, brought their Christmas jumpers out yesterday in support of Save The Children.

Workers at the employment agency dressed up for the event, which has raised more than £100 for the charity.

Fundraising events were held throughout the day to inject some fun into the working day and raise awareness at the same time.

Manager Kath Curr said: “We have a nominated charity every year and this year it has been Save The Children.

“We wanted to do something quite big. We saw the Christmas jumper day they were doing, and decided to do the same.”

The official Christmas Jumper Day is today but Kath wanted to bring theirs forward to make people aware of it.

She said: “We are very happy to know that the money we raise for the charity will stay local. There is a lot of poverty in Swindon, which some people may not know.

“We have got links with various organisations for children, such as those who may need fostering, adoption, or shelter.

“We have raised about £120 so far with cake sales and events. We have had a great response from people who have come in, and everyone wore their jumpers today.

“We had a competition for the best jumper.

“Suzy Kay was the winner, and she sewed a Father Christmas on to the jumper which lit up.”

Other schools and workplaces are following suit with the Christmas jumper fundraiser today, including Royal Wootton Bassett School pupils and staff at John Lewis at Home, in Mannington Retail Park.
