A SCHOOLBOY who shows great courage in everything life throws at him is the third person to be granted an Adver Christmas Wish this year.

Seven-year-old Jamie Greenwood, who is autistic, has been given a trip to Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park in Hampshire, and a stay at a hotel nearby.

Earlier this month, we asked you to tell us about people whodeserved a treat over the festive period.

Jamie’s stepmother Kyla Dean, of Abbey Meads, nominated Jamie because of the determination he has shown throughout his life.

Jamie, who is a pupil at The Chalet Schoolcannot speak but uses a picture exchange communication system.

He also has low muscle tone, is asthmatic and suffers from Marcus Gunn Jaw Winking syndrome, which causes his eyelid to jerk upawards.

Most recently, it has been discovered that he needs hearing aids in both ears.

Kyla, 34, said: “Despite all of this, Jamie is one of the most placid and happy children I know and accepts all that life throws at him without a grumble.

“He works really hard to fit into a world that is often very difficult for him and is even beginning to slowly get some speech.

“In most aspects of his life he just gets on with it, he really deserves this treat.

“When I saw the Christ-mas Wish campaign I thought of Peppa Pig.

“Jamie loves it and so does my daughter, Matilda.”

As part of the treat, Jamie, his father Mark, nine-year-old sister Megan, Kyla and Kyla’s three-year-old daughter Matilda Harrison, plus two other family members, will be going to Peppa Pig World in February.

Kyla said: “Days out like this are something that maybe Jamie doesn’t get a chance to do because it’s a tiring day.

“Sometimes we underestimate just what he is capable of.

“We often think he might get too tired or upset with big crowds but he has proved us wrong in the past.”

Housebuilder Persimmon donated £500 towards the trip, which paid for a night’s night bed and breakfast at the four-star MacDonald Botley Park Hotel, near Southampton, and entry for two days to Peppa Pig World.

It also paid for Peppa Pig and George toys for Jamie, and Peppa Pigs for Megan and Matilda.

Christine Florence, the sales negotiator at Persimmon, said: “We like to give something back to the community.

“We sell new homes, often to young families or people about to start families.

“Donating money like this is part of the family orientation of the company. We help wherever we can.”
