THE Swindon Community Safety Partnership (CSP) has teamed up with other agencies to send out a message to festive party revellers.

Using the slogan ‘Christmas is coming… get it covered’, alcohol services, the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC), sexual health services and domestic violence services are asking people not to put themselves in situations where they may be at risk.

Sexual assault, pregnancy, sexually transmitted infections and relationship problems can be linked to drinking too much. A special credit card has been produced giving the numbers of services that can help. The card comes with a condom attached and space for an ICE number (In Case of Emergency) in the event that the cardholder loses their phone.

Jools James-Kempshall, SARC manager, said: “Most people assume that sexual assault will never happen to them and men are more likely to be complacent, but, although rare, male sexual assaults do happen.

“Staying safe is everyone’s responsibility. If someone is intoxicated it may make them vulnerable. We will support anyone who makes contact with us.”

Swindon and Wiltshire Alcohol and Drugs Service is backing the campaign and the service will be part of the team on Swindon’s streets on December 14, 20 and 21.
