A TIRED play park is set for a £167,000 facelift thanks to a grant from the council.

The authority will be launching a consultation in the New Year to hear residents’ views on how the cash, which is coming from Swindon Council’s capital funding, should be spent to breath fresh life into Hesketh Crescent Play Area in Old Town.

It has been a number of years since the children’s play area saw any investment.

Old Town councillor, Nadine Watts, has welcomed the news.

“It is really good news that this play area is getting a revamp,” said Coun Watts.

“The existing play area has become tired.

“These plans will give it a real lift and make the most of the space and views.

“I am sure many more people will use it once works have been carried out.

“A public consultation is provisionally planned for the end of January. Local residents will get the chance to have their say into how they would like the new play area to look.”
