THE re-opening of Foxham Way, which experienced substantial traffic delays when it was closed earlier this month, will be announced to motorists with advance notice.
This month the council apologised for failing to tell motorists of the closure, leaving congestion on alternative routes.
The road will re-open temporarily over the Christmas period, and fully accessible in early January.
Coun Nadine Watts, (Lab, Old Town), said: “Several residents have contacted me regarding the increase in traffic through Old Town.
“I asked the highways department whether this increase was being monitored. The council said that there is no formal monitoring taking place of the level of increased traffic on roads such as Kingshill Road, Bath Road or Croft Road. There is always an impact when a road is closed and a diversion in place.
“Also, local people who know the road network will take their own diversions. The council are aware of the delays this closure is causing.”
