A 16-year-old boy who is said to have assaulted an older teenager at an out-of-town shopping centre is to face trial by jury.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded not guilty to a charge of actual bodily harm when he appeared at Swindon Crown Court. It is said he and others assaulted a 17-year-old boy at the Orbital Centre on June 21.

Judge Douglas Field adjourned the case to April 22 when the boy, from Abbey Meads, is to face a trial.

He was released on bail on a tagged curfew, banned from the Orbital Centre and its car park and told not to contact witnesses.
