CONSTRUCTION of the two family accommodation lodges at Prospect Hospice is ahead of schedule.

The lodges will enable families to stay close to their loved ones when they are patients at the hospice when they open in spring 2014.

They are being built by Beard Construction, and have been largely funded by a Department of Health grant specifically for this project.

Site manager Paul Bridgman of Beard is pleased with the progress being made towards completion of the two lodges.

He said: “The progress that has been made since we broke the ground at the beginning of November is clear for all to see.

“This work wasn’t scheduled to be completed until early January, so we are pleased with the progress that we have made in the two months since work began.”

Angela Jordan, Prospect Hospice’s Chief Executive, said: “It is great to see the lodges rising up in our gardens and our thanks goes to the team at Beard for their hard work and progress towards opening in the spring.

“I am sure the community served by Prospect Hospice will be as delighted as I am that the lodges will be ready to welcome families in early 2014.”
