SPORTIVATE, a £56 million lottery funded London Olympics 2012 legacy project, is looking for applicants for sports training taking place between April and March next year.

The programme gives 11 to 25 year olds who are not particularly sporty access to six weeks of free or subsidised coaching in a range of sports.

Activities include judo, golf, tennis, wakeboarding and athletics.

Sportivate is inclusive and targets young people who are disabled or from minority ethnic groups.

Sportivate has been created by the public body Sport England, which says that 15.3 million people play sport once a week, 1.4 million more than when London won the bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

Thanks to the hard work of the Sportivate deliverers, they have already retained over 1,000 participants in England since April last year and are on course to exceed the target for the total number of retained participants.

Applications need to be submitted by Friday, January 24.

The Sportivate project planning template and guidance notes can be found on Wiltshire and Swindon Sports website at www.wiltssport.org.
