FLOODING on the tracks between Swindon and Bristol Parkway is causing delays on trains to London Paddington and Cardiff Central.

Although the flood waters have not quite reached the level of the rails, trains need to move slower through these areas and exercise caution to prevent any accidents.

A spokesman from First Great Western said: “There are still delays between Swindon and Bristol caused by the flooding.

Trains are taking about 10 minutes longer to pass through.

“The water has not quite reached up to the rails but the levels are such that trains are passing through with caution.”

Meanwhile, First Great Western have confirmed that flooding has closed the lines between Swindon and Bristol Parkway. Trains are being diverted via Bath Spa resulting in delays of up to 30 minutes.
