A CYCLIST has been taken to Frenchay Hospital with serious head injuries after an accident on Faringdon Road this evening.

The 19-year-old man is believed to have been riding his bicycle when he was hit by a lorry and is in a critical condition.

The air ambulance aborted an attempt to land in Faringdon Road Park so the victim was taken to Bristol by road.

Lanes of traffic remained open except for the right hand turn into Farnsby Street from Faringdon Road which was blocked.

Police were called to deal with a crash on Faringdon Road shortly after 4pm.

The incident happened on the junction of Faringdon Road, Farnsby Street and Emlyn Square and is expected to take approximately two hours to clear.
