Wiltshire Police last night charged and remanded a 26-year-old man with burglary in relation to the theft of new-born puppies.

The thefts took place in Percy Street, Rodbourne on Monday, January 13. A second man, 29, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

In all, nine puppies were stolen between 8.30am and 10.30am, and are described as Staffordshire Bull Terrier-Collie crossbreeds.

Two puppies were returned to the victim on Tuesday, and police recovered a puppy on Wednesday, which was returned to her mother.

Yesterday officers located a further puppy (pictured), which was returned to his mother, having been examined by a vet, and is making good progress.

There are still five pups missing and police continue to have concerns about the welfare missing dogs as they are too young to have been removed from the care of their mother.

Anyone who has bought a puppy this week and is unsure whether it might be one of the stolen puppies is urged to contact police as a matter of urgency.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Swindon Priority Crime Team, Wiltshire Police on 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
