THIRTEEN new Special Constables received their warrant cards from Chief Constable Patrick Geenty at a ceremony held at Wiltshire Police Headquarters. Family and friends attended to watch their loved ones recite the Declaration Of The Constable.

The Specials have successfully completed a six-month training programme and will now volunteer alongside regular police officers from their assigned area. At the event three of the new recruits spoke about their reasons for becoming a Special Constable.

Andy Gover, a keen football coach, who will be based in Chippenham said: “I relish the chance to serve Wiltshire communities.

“I see becoming a Special Constable as an ideal way to gain experience of the police.” Dre Benincasa will be based in Swindon.

He said: “The job satisfaction cannot be matched and you get a great feeling helping someone.

“I am looking forward to getting out on my first shift.”
