LIDEN Library has received a fresh lick of paint and had a mural installed after more than 15 years.

The library, based in the Liden Centre in Barrington Close, had the painters in last week to give the community hub a looking over.

Library assistant Lyn Marshall said: “It hasn’t been decorated for years.

“I started working here in 1981 and I took a break and came back in 1987, and it hasn’t been decorated since then.

“It wasn’t too bad before but it’s always nice to freshen up a bit and it just makes it look a bit nicer.

“They repainted the walls and varnished the woodwork because we have quite a lot of wood here and a member of staff came in and painted a mural in the children’s area.”

The mural features an underwater scene including an octopus.

The library acts as a community hub in Liden, with all members of the public using the facilities including computers and an extensive children’s section.

Many different activities and groups meet in the Liden Library, including a regular book club, writers group and story time for children.

The Liden Library is open every day from 9am to 5pm.
