WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after a 93-year-old man was injured in Purton.

The incident took place at approximately 6.10pm on Tuesday, February 4 on the High Street, from the direction of Lower Square toward Pavenhill.

As the gentleman reached the war memorial at the junction with Hooks Hill, a bus travelling from the Pavenhill direction had stopped to allow traffic to flow.

As the bus moved off the man slipped from the kerb falling into the road possibly making contact with a Landrover Discovery which was behind the bus.

The man hit the floor sustaining a head injury.

He was assisted to his home address by a passerby before paramedics took him to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he was treated for a cut to the head. He was later discharged.

It is reported that the Landrover Discovery passed the elderly male whilst being assisted by the passerby.

The Landrover Discovery is described as a new model and grey in colour. The vehicle contained three people. The driver is described as a male who was balding with a female front seat passenger.

Police are keen to speak to the driver of the Landrover Discovery or any other witnesses.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be left anonymously.
