WOULD-BE life savers can find out all about first aid from St John Ambulance in Swindon at a course on Tuesday, February 25.

The Essential First Aid training is suitable for all ages and places are still available. An expert from the first aid charity will cover all of the basic skills needed to save a life, including resuscitation, and dealing with bleeding and choking, in three hours. Everyone who successfully completes the session will get a certificate which lasts three years, together with a course book.

George Tarte, the charity’s Community Training Coordinator for Wiltshire said: “We believe that nobody should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it.

“Sadly, our research shows that fewer than one in five people in our area would know what to do in a medical emergency. ”

“Our courses are all about stopping people dying in situations where first aid could have given them a chance to live."

The course runs from 9.30am at the St John Ambulance Centre in Rodbourne Road, Swindon SN2 2AY and costs £25.
