AN OLYMPIAN helped to launch a cross between snooker and football at Grange Leisure Centre.
Bobby White, Team GB’s handball team captain, made an appearance at the Grange Drive centre to unveil Street Snooker as part of Stratton St Margaret Parish Council’s renovation of the complex.
A Street Snooker court already exists in Greenbridge and has been quite popular, leading the parish council to add it to the centre.
Nigel Chalk, chair of finance at Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, said: “Bobby White, who is an ambassador for Playinnovation and Street Snooker, came to launch the new indoor board. “The game is played like snooker but with a football, thus improving ball control skills.
“It was great to get Bobby down, he’s an ambassador for the game and as it can be played by throwing the ball as well as playing with your feet, he was ideal.
“We hope people will take it up and then we might look at getting a league together.”
