SNOW has been forecast for Swindon and the surrounding area today.

Although the weather service, which has issued a yellow weather warning, said considerable snow is not likely in the town centre, flurries could cause traffic issues, particularly this morning.

From the early hours of this morning rain will turn to snow for a time, mainly over high ground. Snow is unlikely to accumulate over low ground, but some areas may see a wintry mix and slush underfoot for a time.

People are being warned of the potential for some disruption to travel, especially during the morning rush hour.

The warning extends to as late as 3pm today.

The Met Office’s chief forecaster said: “An area of low pressure is expected to move eastwards on Friday.

“There remains some uncertainty in its track and therefore on the risk and location of any snow.

“This warning will be kept under review and the public are advised to keep up to date with the forecast and warnings.”
