THE DAUGHTER of a woman who dedicated her life to supporting others is planning a skydive in her memory.

Mother-of-two Jenny Hinson from Wroughton lost her private battle with lung cancer at the Great Western Hospital in January after the disease had spread to her brain.

She had kept her illness a secret from all but her husband, Joe, for more than a year as she did not want to worry her children and friends.

“She was just the most wonderful person I have ever known, and my best friend,” said her daughter, Jolene.

“I have never met anyone who was so caring and touched the heart of everyone she met.

“She always put other people’s feelings first.”

Jolene plans to remember her with a charity skydive over the Whitsundays in Australia.

The 37-year-old said: “I just wanted something positive to come out of losing mum, and I thought that fundraising for Cancer Research UK would be one way to do it.”

Jolene plans to carry out the 12,000ft jump in April and is appealing to those who knew her mother to help her raise money.

She said: “I spent a year travelling around Australia and sharing it with mum so I just thought it just seemed like the right thing to do. Running a marathon or something like that just isn’t me, and I wanted to do something a bit different.

So far, Jolene has raised around £900, and she hopes to raise as much as she can in her mother’s memory.

She said: “I am funding the trip myself, so every penny I receive will go to charity.

“It is time for me to be positive and stand up to cancer, to raise funds for an amazing charity in the hope that one day a cure will be found for this horrific disease.

“It’s also an opportunity for me to take some time out to reflect and remember all the special times.”

Earlier this year Jenny’s family was inundated with tributes from friends, family, and many other people who knew her.

The 58-year-old spent her life supporting others, including at Moormead Nursing Home, Swindon Council and Connect, where she helped those with disabilities to find and secure work.
