THE POLICE helicopter was scrambled last night after five teenagers stole a car in North Swindon.
The helicopter was used to support ground units trying to trace a stolen car.
Traffic officers deployed a stinger on Thamesdown Drive at the Aldi junction to halt the vehicle which had failed to stop for police.
The car collided with a lamp post on the junction with Cricklade Road.
Five youths were found in the vehicle aged between 12 and 16. The driver was 16 years old.
All five were arrested and taken to Gablecross Police Station for questioning.
