LONG-TERM unemployed people have been able to secure new jobs at a Swindon taxi firm thanks to a local training company.

Cross Street Cars enlisted the help of TBG Learning to help with their driver shortage.

TBG Learning, which delivers the Government’s Work Programme on behalf of JobFit and helps the long-term unemployed back into work, suggested two motivated candidates, Ken Easton and Ibrahim Athuman. The pair have now joined Cross Street.

Dave Masters, operations manager for Cross Street Cars, said: “Due to the lack of drivers we have had to turn down work we have been offered.

“I was approached by Helen Saunders from TBG Learning Swindon, who explained the service that they offer and how they could support us in training and employing some new drivers.”

Helen Saunders, from TBG Learning, added: “We have already supported two drivers to obtain their private hire drivers licenses who work at Cross Street Cars. We are pleased to have added Ken and Ibrahim as drivers to the Cross Street Car family.”
