STAFF from Zurich have raised £6,031.78 for Big Breakfast +, a local charity that provides a cooked breakfast and support for the homeless and those in need.
The donation from the Technical Operations Department was part of a staff-led programme of community involvement and will pay the running cost of the service for around 15 weeks.
Suzanne Ford, one of the organisers from Zurich, said: ‘We are delighted to have been able to support Big Breakfast + this year, chosen as our 2013 charity partner by the people who work in our department. I am so thankful for their generosity – they have given so willingly throughout the year in various fundraising events.”
Angus Macpherson, trustee of the Big Breakfast +, which was formerly known as Broadgreen Breakfast Club, said: “This magnificent effort has come at a time when funding is difficult.
“We have up to 40 people every day using the service and we know that there are more people sleeping rough in Swindon this year than last.
“Running the Big Breakfast + costs around £25,000 per annum or about £80 a day.”
