Swindon Croquet Club is looking to build on its best season by inviting new members to join.
A grant from the Lottery Sport England Be Inspired fund enabled the club to buy a clubroom, and further grants from the lottery and the Croquet Association have bought equipment to maintain the lawns.
Last season the club took part in four regional leagues, with the Federation Team reaching the finals, where they lost to Bath.
The Intermediate team finished second in their group; the B team finished bottom of their league and the Golf Croquet team finished second to last in their competition.
The new season of croquet is about to start and the club welcomes anyone interested to come along and have a game.
Club sessions are on Tuesdays from 2pm for Golf Croquet, Wednesdays from 2pm for Association Croquet and Thursdays from 4pm till dusk for both games, with coaching available.
For those wanting a more thorough grounding a Beginners’ Course running for six two-hour sessions on Thursday afternoons from April 24, costing £24 which will be refunded if club membership is taken out.
