THE ADVER’S Chief Sports Writer has collected another accolade for being a twit...

Or rather for being a presence on Twitter.

Sam Morshead has been named on the Press Gazette’s list of the top 50 journalists on the social media site, at the Press Gazette’s Social Media Journalism Awards this week.

The list feature notable names such as Channel 4’s chief correespondent Alex Thomson, The Sun’s deputy political editor Steve Hawkes and Lucy Manning, ITV News UK Editor.

The overall winner was Peter Jukes, a freelance journalist who covered the News of the World hacking scandal on Twitter after using crowdfunding.

Sam, who holds the title for south west digital journalist of the year 2013, said: “I’m honoured and delighted I’ve been named in illustrious company in the Press Gazette’s Top 50 UK journalists working on Twitter and social media.

“Looking at the list I’m even further flattered. Great that the little old Swindon Advertiser is on this list with some huge names.”
