BUSINESSES looking for skilled workers are being urged to contact a dedicated task force set up to deal with the fallout from Honda’s scaling back of production.

Following the announcement by Honda of the UK Manufacturing Ltd of reduced production following lower than expected sales demand in Europe, a number of organisations in Swindon have come together as a Task Force to support the individuals involved and to minimise any potential impact on the local economy.

Chaired by Forward Swindon, the Task Force includes representatives from the public and private sectors, local and central government, and Honda itself. Both Swindon MPs – Robert Buckland and Justin Tomlinson – are also participating.

The initiative aims to help those affected to find other employment in the area.

Jill Annal, Project Manager for the Task Force, said: “Honda staff are known for having a strong work ethic, for being highly-trained and highly-motivated team workers. Those skills would be an asset to anyone and we would like to hear from organisations that have openings for such highly-skilled workers.”
