THE body of a 49-year-old Swindon woman has been discovered in a river in Gloucestershire in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Gloucestershire Police were called to the river at Coln in Bibury at 7.20am on Sunday to reports of the body being found.

The partner of the woman has been informed but she has not yet been named publicly.

It is thought the woman had been staying nearby at the time, and police are currently treating the death as non suspicious.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police said: "We were called to the scene at 7.20am yeserday morning by the person who found the body. 

"We found a woman from the Swindon area who was 49-years-old in shallow water in the River Coln. 

"The woman's partner, who was her next of kin, and the coroner, have been informed, but we are not releasing her name at this stage.

"The death was orginally being treated as unexplained but is now being treated as non suspicious.

"The woman had been staying locally at the time in a pub in the area."
