A TWENTY-foot high figure of England’s patron saint will parade through the town centre to celebrate St George’s Day next week.
On Wednesday, April 23, the saint’s feast day, the giant statue will lead a procession made up of 100 school children from Regent Street along Canal Walk and into Wharf Green after being blessed by a local vicar.
The children will be divided into four groups where they will take part in a variety of different activities, including arts and crafts, dance, sport and a lunch station.
There will also be demonstrations from No Added Sugar, while Swindon Leisure Services will be offering a sport orientated activity zone.
Swindon Dance and Folk Dance Remixed Group will be offering May-pole dancing and then performing to the children to finish the day.
The parade will start at 11am and the afternoon of activities will finish at 2pm.
