GRANGE Leisure Centre held an open day yesterday to celebrate the completion of its £1m facelift.

Throughout the day around 100 visitors flocked through the doors and enjoyed a range of taster sessions and activities offered at the centre and had a chance to try out the tasty treats on offer in the cafe and bar.

Tracy Predeth, clerk to Stratton St Margaret Parish Council, said: “It proved a very popular event and there were a number of activities people could take part in, including Young at Heart 50+ badminton and football on the all-weather-grass pitch, which was very popular.

“We also had special offers on the food like half price two course lunches, and we have also had a machine where people can pedal to make their own smoothie.

“It was a very good day, everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and many residents offered suggestions on more things we could do and I think we will be thinking about holding similar things again during the holidays for the children.”

To finish the day, the parish council held its AGM and informed residents about the work that has been carried out in the past year.
