A CHEQUE for £271 has been presented to Prospect Hospice thanks to First Great Western staff.

Prospect Hospice is a strong favourite with FGW colleagues, especially those based in Swindon. The hospice supports a community of 300,000 in Swindon and North Wiltshire.

General manager for the Central Regional Rob Mullen, said: “I’m delighted to present this fantastic charity with a cheque. Our helpful and friendly staff not only work but also live in the communities they serve, and they recognise the value Prospect play in that community. The team at Prospect are inspirational.”

The money was raised after FGW decided to donate £1 to charity for every member of staff who completed an annual staff survey. £3,726 was raised in total, to be split between eight charities.

Collecting the cheque on behalf of Prospect Hospice Sheryl Crouch, head of fundraising said: “On behalf of patients, their families, volunteers and staff, thank you to everyone at First Great Western for this kind donation raised through your staff survey. To be the benefiting charity of something that staff have contributed towards is even more special to us.

“Without the support of businesses, their employees and our community we would not be able to raise the money to care for the 2,000 patients we look after each year.”
