CHILDREN being treated at Great Western Hospital had an lovely surprise when the Easter bunny delivered chocolate and treats yesterday.

The bunny delivered around 80 Easter eggs and cuddly toys which were donated by recruitment agency Select.

The business, based in Commercial Road, had received donations of 400 eggs from their clients as part of their Be A Good Egg appeal.

So far, eggs have been dropped off at The Chalet School, homeless charities Swindon Foyer and Threshold Housing with the children’s ward being Select’s latest recipient.

Paula Glen, Select recruitment administrator, said: “It has been a pleasure to deliver the eggs and make the children smile.”

Six-year-old Ben Osmond was one of the children who received an egg from the Easter bunny.

Mother Liz Mawer, a nurse in the hospital’s eye clinic, said: “It is really nice of them to come and drop off eggs and Ben loved meeting the bunny. It is great for the children here to know that people outside the hospital care about them.”

Remaining eggs will be given to children who visit the ward and outpatients clinic over the weekend.

Claire Parks, senior health play specialist at the hospital, said: “Visits like this really cheer up the children and their parents and we are really thankful to Select. We’ve also received eggs from Honda and Reed. I think it is really nice that Swindon companies have taken the time to think of us.”
