ROYAL Wootton Bassett Town Council have reassured residents about pre-application proposals to build a new Tesco and 300 homes on Marsh Farm.
Although an application has yet to be submitted to Wiltshire Council, Leda Properties has expressed its interest in the site to the west of the Marsh Farm Hotel, on land which is in the parish of Lydiard Tregoze.
The proposals have divided opinion in the town, but the Town Council has reassured residents that all views will be represented by the council during the consultation process.
In a statement published on the council’s website, a council spokesman said: “Please be aware that Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council is only a consultee in the planning process; the decision to either approve or refuse planning permission rests with Wiltshire Council, although the views of consultees are taken into account.”
