NILE Ranger will be questioned by police after allegedly punching a woman and smashing down a door outside his penthouse flat in Gordon Gardens earlier this month.

The controversial Swindon Town striker is at the centre of CCTV footage released by the Sunday Mirror today, where he is allegedly seen striking the woman three times and then kicking down the three-inch-thick door.

The footage was passed on to Wiltshire Police by the Sunday newspaper, and officers went to his flat in the town centre yesterday morning, but found he was not home.

A Wiltshire Police spokesman said: “The company has supplied the police with a copy of CCTV of the incident, which shows a man kicking and smashing the door and lift, and at one point punching a female who was with him.

“Police have been making inquiries to locate the suspect.

“As a result a man, aged 23, of Gordon Gardens, Swindon, will be contacted via his solicitor for interview by appointment in connection with the criminal damage and assault.”

The incident is alleged to have happened at 4am on the morning of Sunday, April 13 – the day after Town beat Brentford 1-0 at the County Ground.
