Man injured at Regent Circus construction site

Swindon Advertiser: Man injured at Regent Circus construction site Man injured at Regent Circus construction site

A man was taken to hospital this evening after a panel fell on him in an accident at the construction site of the new Regent Circus leisure complex.

Emergency services were called at around 9.45pm to assist the man, who was in his 40s, after the panel fell on him while he was on the first floor.

He suffered minor injuries to his lower legs and was taken to Great Western Hospital after firefighters had assisted in rescuing him from the building site, which is to be a new state-of-the-art bricklaying and construction centre for students.

A spokesman for South West Ambulance Service said: "We were called to a construction site near the former college site at around 9.45pm.

"The casualty, a man in his 40s, had had a panel fall on his lower leg on the first floor of the site. He sustained minor injuries and was taken to Great Western Hospital by ambulance."

A spokesman for Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We assisted the ambulance service with a casualty on the site and once we rescued him he was taken to hospital."

It is unclear at this stage what the man was doing on the site.

Adver get is sorted! You've confused two sites up. The OLD college site at Regent Circus is not the new construction building for Swindon College. The building at Regent Circus is the new town redevelopment that you, yourselves, report on regularly! The building at Swindon College at North Star would be their new construction centre. You really do need a map of Swindon!

Has an idiot been let lose on this story?

REGENTS CIRCUS is a cinema, supermarket and bar development.

The NEW COLLEGE site is going to be the new 'state of the art site for bricklaying' etc as part of the UTC development, surely?

For goodness sake - Regents Circus is within spitting distance of the Adver offices, so the writer should be aware of that at least!

Scott D'Arcy - WAKE UP (Someone buy him a coffee and get some caffeine in his veins ;) )

Was the accident at Regents Circus or at the UTC site...?

Yet again the utterly inept Adver cub reporter **** up another story. It also beggars belief that the sub editor who is employed to flag up errors like this, let the story through. There were honestly better journalists on the student rag at my 6th form college. And this is considered "breaking news"?? A labourer gets minor injuries on his legs??It's no wonder the Adver is dying, with the appalling quality of writing and redundant content to be found in it. It's surely only a matter of months until the sorry excuse for a local newspaper goes weekly leading to it eventually folding altogether.

Regardless of where he was......9.45pm sounds like someone looking to rob the site or maybe I'm too cynical, perhaps he was a night watchman!

Why would there be? He's probably straight out of Uni, on a pittance and is already eyeing a less provincial newspaper. He doesn't care. But if this farcical ****-up is a typical example of his journalistic skills, I highly doubt he will be troubling Fleet Street any time soon!
