CAR lovers are expected to descend on Royal Wootton Bassett from across the country on Saturday.

The Classic Car Club and Royal Wootton Bassett Town Council have organised a classic car display to take place in the High Street from 1pm.

A range of different cars from all different eras will be on display beneath the Town Hall.

It will be the latest event hosted by the classic car club in the town, with the previous event taking place back in October.

Around a dozen classic vehicles were on display for crowds to marvel at, including a 1964 black Rover 60, a black Ford Y and a white MGBGT from the 1970s.

Organiser David Pope said Bassett Classics is pleased to be running the day.

He said: “It’s a bit of nostalgia for people. Lots of people would have had similar cars in the past in their families.”

In the past the event has been organised by the local Chamber of Commerce, but the role was taken over by the Classic Car Club after they stepped down.

This weekend’s event is being sponsored by Autocolour Ltd.
