A NEW promotion is aiming to get more children to sign up to swimming lessons.

Swindon Council’s Leisure Services team is offering new customers £5 off when they enrol their child on a swimming course during May.

To help promote the importance of swimming, the Leisure Services team will be visiting supermarkets and schools with swimming mascot Webster.

Webster and the team will be handing out the money off vouchers to parents and explaining how the swimming programme works at the end of the school day.

Webster will be at East Wichel Primary School today, followed by visits to Rodbourne Cheney Primary on Monday, Oliver Tomkins next Thursday, Haydon Wick Primary next Friday, Ruskin Juniors on May 19, Ferndale on May 20, Wanborough Primary on May 22 and Moredon Primary on May 23.

All swimming programmes follow the National Plan for Teaching Swimming and all instructors are qualified to Amateur Swimming Association standards.

Lessons start from four years of age at Dorcan, Health Hydro and Highworth Rec and from five years at the Link Centre.
