A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with four robberies in Swindon - three of them involving knives.

The man was arrested on suspicion of four counts of robbery in Swindon last night following two further incidents in the town.

The first took place at the Juniper Stores, Marigold Close, Haydon Wick, shortly before 6.30pm yesterday.

The suspect entered the store and threatened a member of staff with a knife before a struggle took place between the two and the suspect fled the from the scene.

A knife was recovered from Juniper Stores last night.

A short time later, a woman in her 60s had her purse stolen as she walked along Purton Road, Moredon.

The woman was not injured.

These two incidents are being linked to the robbery in the McDonalds on Great Western Way on Friday, May 9 and the robbery in the Co-Op store, Moredon Road, on Sunday, May 11.

The man arrested remains in police custody at this time.

Officers from the local Neighbourhood Policing Team will be conducting house to house enquiries in the Moredon area today so members of the public will see an increased police presence in the area.
