EMPTY land in Redhouse, which had been earmarked for a community pub, is set to be sold on by the owner, house builders Crest Nicholson.

Last week it emerged that a plan to build a learning disability unit on the land located opposite Tesco had been withdrawn. It is a space which has been set aside for a pub but despite bids by Arkell’s, Crest said the bids were not high enough and so were looking for other uses.

However, the company has now confirmed they are looking to sell the land to PM Asset Management, the firm behind the withdrawn bid.

Ben Miller, Development Director for Crest Nicholson South West, said: “We can confirm we have accepted an offer from PM Asset Management to purchase land in Redhouse and have exchanged subject to planning permission. We continuing to work with the council to deliver sustainable communities for Swindon.”
